Restoration Job

It all started when the good wife and I attended a personal development time. I thought it was going to be a nice little tune up of the soul... kind of like how it is when your car smells funny or making a noise and you take it to your friend who "knows something about cars". You look over their shoulder and make comments like, "yeah, i thought it sounded like the catalytic converter" as you cock an eyebrow and feign a car IQ above 50.

[As an aside, I actually had one of those friends who "knew something about cars". I was looking to buy my first car and took it to him to check out - see if it was good enough for a white dude in 11Th grade. He actually took out a stethoscope and listened to the engine. My goodness man, what's next, an EKG monitor? portable sonogram? Open engine surgery?]

Anyway, can you guess what happened?

Instead of a tune up, they put me up on blocks and broke it all down to the ground. It was like living in an episode of the TV show Monster Garage. Those five days started me on a halting, shuddering, often exciting, and many times sobering adventure of the deep places of my heart and soul.

As it says above - this blog will be an exploration of these things at multiple levels of my existence. Plans are in the works to add a podcast which will allow me to interview some of those who are actively shining the Light of Christ in dark places around the world.

Lastly, you may have noticed that there isn't much personal information on this blog. It isn't that I am afraid to explore these things in public, instead it is because I want this to be more about the topic than the specimen. I am No-man and also Every-man. What we will explore here are things that we all, at one time or another, will deal with.
